Praying Mantis and the Power of Stillness

Recently, I experienced three separate scenarios where-in Praying Mantis was the subject of the conversation.  I believe that when someone or something knocks on your door repeatedly, it’s best to investigate, and find out what gifts they may be offering.  I did a little research, and it turns out Mantis is teaching me yet another lesson in patience, and stillness; being still enough to hear the voice of Divine guidance, keeping me on my path to my personal Truth.  This is especially interesting seeing as how I almost picked up a third job this last week… and I haven’t been writing nearly as much since I started job #2.  Hmmm…  The word “mantis” means profit or seer in Greek.  It appears as though all signs are pointing to paying closer attention to what this small but mighty friend has to share.

Indeed, Mantis is heralding messages surrounding “patience being rewarded with abundance”.  When she moves, she moves quickly and decisively, knowing when the exact right moment has arrived to catch her prey.  She strikes with power, and has an amazing success rate.  She is a warrior, and highly skilled huntress; with a lifetime of practice indicating preparation and patience is the best strategy for achieving success.  By being focused and motionless for what seems like an eternity, she remains invisible to her predators.  In this way, she is sharing that awesome capability with those who vibrate to her music.  She is becoming perception in stillness; being still, meditating, going within, quieting her being, and listening to what the Universe is whispering.  She is honoring the cycles of action and rest inherent in nature.  She is excelling at moving seamlessly between worlds.  It’s another one of her special gifts.  By living according to our own inner instincts, we are mirroring Mantis’ disregard for the confines of linear time.
