What’s the first thing you think of when I say “middle finger”? If you’re like most Americans, you’re probably thinking about being really angry with somebody. This is no coincidence! The energy of the liver and gallbladder functions are flowing through our middle fingers, and when they are out of balance, we can experience the attitudes of anger and frustration. So instead of flipping somebody off, take a moment and realize that the body is literally screaming at you to hold that middle finger.
Physically, the gallbladder is storing bile to break down food, especially fats. The liver is filtering the blood as it travels from the digestive tract, to the rest of the body, and detoxifying any chemicals and/or drugs in the system. Our blood reaches every single cell in our bodies. When it’s clean, it has the capacity to carry fresh oxygen/life to those cells, supporting proper relationship, and overall general harmony. We can also look at the reproductive functions, and specifically anything hormone related when discussing the liver and gallbladder. What happens when your sink gets clogged? It can get pretty nasty, right? When the gallbladder is not doing its job, larger particles are attempting to pass through the liver, and can essentially “clog the sink”. When our filter is clogged, everything down the line has to work harder to clean out that extra gunk. When we hold our middle fingers, we are helping to keep our filter nice and clean. But wait! There’s more! We are also balancing projects of abundance (good, bad, or otherwise). Think about a tumor: an abundance of rogue cells; inflammation: an abundance of information being passed through our nerve endings; anorexia: an abundance of weight loss; addictions: an abundance of substances in the body; acne: an abundance of oil/bacteria on the skin surface; indecision: an abundance of thoughts; etc. This energy is dealing with anything “scratchy”. When we are being stubborn, or we are having a flare up from arthritis, or somebody made us mad, or we are insisting that we know everything, we are “rusted shut”. That’s the liver and gallbladder function energy acting up. When it’s harmonized, we call this our “oil can”. It can provide lubrication for our bodies (skin surface, joints), thoughts (change our perspective more easily), emotions (not be as affected by circumstances around us), etc. This is energy of rejuvenation! When the liver and gallbladder energies are in balance, we can experience love and compassion. To allow more of this in your life, hold the left middle finger first, for at least 3 full breaths. Then switch to the right middle finger, and hold it for at least 3 full breaths. Remember to exhale fully, and really clean out that filter. As Mary Burmeister would say, “Drop the shoulders. Smile. Relax.” Sending you love and gratitude from Exquisite Healing! Amy & Tait 💚🙌

Hello friends! Our last post was all about the thumbs. What about the index fingers? Do you have a sore spot there, or maybe a slight deformation of those pointers? Let's take a minute to look at that, and see what we come up with.
Our index fingers are the connection to our feelings of faith and courage. When this energy gets all wack-a-doodle, we can experience fear. Or as Mary Burmeister would say: False Evidence Appearing Real. Physically, the first finger is all about our kidneys and bladder. The body has a few different methods of filtering out all the junk we put in there, and the kidneys are on the front line of that task. Once they clean the blood, the waste is stored in the bladder until it's time for elimination. Our bodies are funny. If there's any question about whether or not something needs to be eliminated, it gets stored. (Personally, I tend to be the opposite. Living in a tiny house inspires me to embody the motto "when in doubt, throw it out". Hahaha!) We're not just talking about our urine, and the other lovely things that come out of our bodies as waste. We are also talking about thoughts that need to be tossed out, habits that are no longer serving us, ways of emotionally relating (or not relating) to other beings. You name it. If it's something that can be released, it can be stored in the bladder energy until that magical moment. Now, let's connect these dots. What if somebody has an overactive bladder, or their kidneys are always aching, or maybe this is a person who is afraid of everything, or maybe they have a hard time letting go of stuff? What can this person do to bring balance back into this part of their life? Hold the index fingers, and take at least 3 nice, deep, relaxed breaths. Remember to exhale all the way, and really support that elimination process. Do this at least once a day. More is better. Sending you love and gratitude from Exquisite Healing! Amy & Tait 🙌💚 Did you know that our digestion has everything to do with having healthy boundaries? Think about this for a second: when we eat something that's not so good for us, our digestive system chooses to either let it in or keep it out. This is the same as interacting with people or situations that are challenging. As we "digest" the encounter, we decide if we will let it in (will this affect my mood?) or keep it out (I am not affected by this drama).
Lucky for us, the thumbs are a quick and easy way to connect with that digestion energy. When we have strong boundaries, the things that might otherwise knock us off our rocker, can't get good purchase. The stomach and spleen energies work in tandem to balance our digestion, and strengthen our container (our skin, both physical and emotional, and our energy field). And guess what else? This is all intimately connected to feelings of stress, and anxiety. How many of us out there get stressed, and either can't eat or binge eat to deal with the tension? Here's what I want you to do the next time you feel that anxiety and/or stress coming on: hold your thumbs and take three nice, full, deep breaths. Make sure you exhale all the way. |
